This manual provides instructions for the safe and effective operation of the NeoPap a turbine-based neonatal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device.

Intended Use
The NeoPap is intended for use in hospital settings by qualified healthcare professionals to provide respiratory support to neonates with breathing difficulties.

Contraindication
The NeoPap is not suitable for neonates with:

  • Upper airway obstruction requiring endotracheal intubation
  • Severe respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation
  • Known or suspected tracheal esophageal fistula

Warnings and Precautions

  • Only qualified healthcare professionals should operate this device.
  • Carefully review all instructions before using the device.
  • Regularly inspect the device for damage and leaks.
  • Ensure proper patient selection and monitoring during therapy.
  • Use only approved accessories with the device.
  • Disconnect from power source before cleaning or maintenance.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Connect the power cord and turn on the device using the power button.
  2. Patient Interface: Select the appropriate nasal prongs or nasal mask for the
    neonate.
  3. Mode Selection: Choose the desired mode (CPAP, Bubble CPAP, Resuscitation,
    peep/pip) on the touch screen.

4. Setting Parameters: Set pressure, flow rate, FiO2 (if using oxygen), and apnea alarm settings according to physician’s orders and patient needs.
5. Patient Connection: Securely connect the nasal interface to the device tubing and apply to the neonate’s face.
6. Monitoring: Continuously monitor the neonate’s vital signs, oxygen saturation, and alarm signals during therapy.
7. Data Recording (Optional): The device may offer data recording capabilities for pressure, flow, and FiO2. Refer to specific instructions for data retrieval.
8. Power Outage: In case of a power outage, the device will automatically switch to battery backup. Ensure battery is fully charged for uninterrupted therapy

9. Cleaning and Maintenance: Regularly clean and disinfect the device and accessories according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
10. Alarms: Respond promptly to all alarms and troubleshoot accordingly. Refer to the manual for alarm troubleshooting guide.
11. Discontinuation of Therapy: Wean the neonate from CPAP therapy gradually under physician supervision.
